Voltage-Gated Potassium Channel (VGKC) Complex Antibody Panel with Reflex to Titer, CSF
Also known as: VGKCCSFPAN
Use
This test detects antibodies against components of the voltage-gated potassium channel (VGKC) complex, including LGI1 and CASPR2. These antibodies are associated with various neurological conditions such as acquired neuromyotonia, limbic encephalitis, Morvan syndrome, painful neuropathy, and tumors like thymoma and small cell lung cancer.
Special Instructions
If LGI1 antibody IgG is positive, then an LGI1 antibody IgG titer will be added. Similarly, if CASPR2 antibody IgG is positive, a CASPR2 antibody IgG titer will be added, incurring additional charges.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA and is developed as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) in a CLIA certified laboratory. Interpret results in conjunction with clinical history and other laboratory findings, as the spectrum of clinical disorders associated with these antibodies continues to be defined.
