Use
Immunoblot can be used as an adjunct tool in the diagnosis of Yersinia enterocolitica infection. The presence of IgA and IgG antibodies to Y. enterocolitica Yop proteins can aid in diagnosing post-infectious autoimmune disorders associated with Y. enterocolitica, such as reactive arthritis, erythema nodosum, Graves Disease, and Hashimoto thyroiditis.
Special Instructions
This test is conducted using a qualitative immunoblot methodology and is intended for clinical purposes. It is a laboratory developed test and not cleared or approved by the FDA.
Limitations
Cross-reactivity has been demonstrated with Borrelia burgdorferi, causing an arthritis that is indistinguishable from arthritis due to Y. enterocolitica. The test's performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories; however, it is not FDA-cleared or approved.
