Use
Confirmatory testing for exposure to B. burgdorferi following a positive or equivocal screening test. The immunoblot provides high specificity by detecting IgG antibodies to multiple specific B. burgdorferi antigens, supporting diagnosis of past or late-stage Lyme disease.

Limitations
IgM immunoblot not recommended beyond 30 days post-symptom onset due to risk of false positives. Negative results cannot rule out early infection; repeat testing may be needed.
