Allergen, Food, Orris Root IgE
Also known as: ORRIS
Use
Measurement of IgE antibodies specific to orris root to aid in the evaluation of food sensitization in patients being assessed for allergic reactions. As the assay is quantitative, results can inform clinical correlation with symptoms, though interpretation should be made alongside patient history and, if appropriate, in vivo testing. This assay is performed at an external laboratory, not within ARUP.
Special Instructions
Test is inactive as of January 5, 2026. Test is performed by a non-ARUP laboratory. A separate specimen must be submitted when ordering multiple tests. Alias: Iris florentina. New York State approved.
Limitations
Specimens that are hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic are unacceptable. Clinical relevance correlates with presence of specific IgE but may not predict reaction severity; interpret in the context of patient history. The test is not performed at ARUP, which may influence turnaround time variability.
