Allergen, Fungi and Molds, Bipolaris spicifera (Curvularia) IgE
Also known as: BSPICIFERA
Use
This test is intended to measure the levels of IgE specific to Bipolaris spicifera, a type of fungi/mold allergen. The presence of specific IgE antibodies may indicate an allergic response when the individual is exposed to this mold, which can manifest in respiratory or other allergic symptoms. However, the correlation between measured IgE concentration and the severity of clinical allergic response is not always direct, necessitating further clinical correlation.
Special Instructions
For multiple allergen orders, refer to the 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' at www.aruplab.com/testing/resources/specimen. Ensure the serum is separated from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection to maintain sample integrity.
Limitations
This assay's limitation includes that even though increasing ranges are reflective of increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE, they may not correlate with the degree of clinical response. A negative result does not rule out an allergy or even anaphylaxis. The assay's results need to be interpreted in conjunction with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens.
