Allergen, House Dust Greer
Also known as: HOUSEGREER
Use
This test measures the concentration of allergen-specific IgE antibodies to house dust using the ImmunoCAP method. Quantitative results are reported in kilounits per liter (kU/L) with associated class scores. It aids in the evaluation of patients with suspected allergic reactions to house dust, assisting in allergen avoidance and management strategies. The correlation of allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens is essential for accurate diagnosis.
Special Instructions
For multiple allergen orders, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions' at www.aruplab.com/testing/resources/specimen. It is essential to separate serum from cells as soon as possible, ideally within two hours of collection, to prevent degradation of the sample.
Limitations
Allergen results within 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use, as the clinical relevance is undetermined. Despite increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE being associated with increased potential for clinical reactivity, these concentrations may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or skin testing outcomes when the patient is challenged with the specific allergen. A negative result does not preclude the possibility of clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis in certain cases.
