Allergen, Tree, Bald Cypress IgE
Also known as: CYPRESS B
Use
This test measures the level of specific IgE antibodies to the Bald Cypress tree allergen (Cypress B). It is used to assess allergic sensitization in patients suspected of having allergies to the Bald Cypress tree. Quantitative results aid in the investigation of allergic disease and are particularly relevant when evaluating symptoms associated with exposure to this specific allergen. The test results provide a probability of IgE-mediated clinical reaction based on class scoring, ranging from 'No significant level detected' to 'Very high,' which correlates with increasing concentrations of allergen-specific IgE.
Special Instructions
Allergen results of 0.10-0.34 kU/L are intended for specialist use as the clinical relevance is undetermined. The test is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory and has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. It's important to correlate allergy laboratory results with clinical history and in vivo reactivity to specific allergens. A negative test may not rule out clinical allergy or even anaphylaxis. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided during the collection process.
Limitations
The concentrations of allergen-specific IgE detected by this test may not correlate directly with the degree of clinical response or skin testing results when challenged with the specific allergen. The clinical relevance of results in the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L remains undetermined and necessitates specialist input. The test is not FDA-cleared or approved, and it is crucial to interpret the results in the context of the patient's clinical history and exposure to the allergen. This limits its standalone diagnostic utility without further clinical correlation.
