Allergen, Tree, Melaleuca Tree IgE
Also known as: MELALEUCA
Use
The Allergen, Tree, Melaleuca Tree IgE test is used to measure the level of specific IgE antibodies to the Melaleuca tree allergen in the patient's serum. The presence of IgE antibodies indicates an allergic sensitization to the Melaleuca tree, which can predict the likelihood of an allergic reaction upon exposure. This test is significant for diagnosing and managing allergic conditions related to environmental exposure to Melaleuca trees.
Special Instructions
It is important to separate the serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer the serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. For multiple allergen orders, refer to 'Allergen Specimen Collection Instructions.' Multiple patient encounters should be avoided to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
The test may not correlate with the degree of clinical response or results from skin testing when the patient is exposed to the allergen. Results within the range of 0.10-0.34 kU/L have undetermined clinical relevance and are intended for specialist use. A negative result does not rule out a clinical allergy or anaphylaxis.
