Allergens, Inhalant Multiallergen IgE, Qualitative
Also known as: INHALALL
Use
The Allergens, Inhalant Multiallergen IgE, Qualitative test is used to determine the presence of IgE antibodies to various inhalant allergens, which can indicate allergic sensitization. This qualitative test produces a positive or negative result that helps in the diagnosis of inhalant allergies, potentially caused by allergens such as dust mites, pet dander, grass pollen, or mold spores. It aids healthcare providers in identifying allergen triggers for allergic diseases like asthma and allergic rhinitis, facilitating better clinical management and patient care.
Special Instructions
Please review the Specimen Collection and Handling Instructions to ensure adequate volume for allergen testing. Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Multiple specimen tubes should also be avoided to prevent processing delays.
Limitations
This test provides a qualitative result only, indicating the presence or absence of specific IgE antibodies. It does not measure specific IgE concentrations to individual allergens such as Dermatophagoides farinae, Cat epithelium and dander, Dog dander, Bermuda grass, Kentucky bluegrass, Alternaria alternata, Oak tree, Elm tree, Common ragweed, and Russian thistle. Results may be affected by hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.
