Amino Acids Quantitative by LC-MS/MS, Plasma
Also known as: AA QNT P
Use
In diagnosing and monitoring aminoacidopathies such as phenylketonuria (PKU) and maple syrup urine disease (MSUD), this test employs quantitative analysis of amino acids in plasma. Disorders of amino acid metabolism can result in developmental delays, neurological issues, and metabolic crises, making early detection and monitoring essential.
Special Instructions
For accurate interpretation, it is important for the clinician to provide clinical information, including age, gender, dietary information, ongoing therapies, and family history via the Biochemical Genetics Patient History Form. This form can be accessed on the ARUP website or by contacting ARUP Client Services.
Limitations
This test is developed and its performance characteristics are determined by ARUP Laboratories. It is not cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The test is conducted in a CLIA certified laboratory.
