Histamine, Urine
Also known as: HIST-U
Use
The Histamine, Urine test aids in the evaluation of patients with allergic signs and symptoms, such as anaphylaxis, and may assist in diagnosing and monitoring mast-cell activation disorders. It is also useful for evaluating histamine production over a longer timeframe. This test provides quantitative analysis of histamine in urine, which can help in the assessment of allergic conditions and mast cell disorders.
Special Instructions
For specimens with notable deviations in collection time or volume, ratios of analytes to a corresponding urine creatinine concentration may assist in result interpretation. Ensure the collection is well-mixed before transferring to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube and freezing immediately.
Limitations
This test is a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) and its performance characteristics were determined by ARUP Laboratories. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration but is performed in a CLIA certified laboratory. Results may be affected by improper specimen handling or delays in transport. Unacceptable conditions include specimens that are not kept frozen or are submitted improperly labeled.
