Kpa Pt Antigen Typing IRL
Also known as: P-KPA_IRL
Use
This test helps determine if the Kp(a) (KEL3) antigen is expressed on the patient's red blood cells. This is significant for managing blood transfusions and preventing hemolytic transfusion reactions, as the presence of KEL3 antigen can indicate antibodies that may cause issues in blood compatibility.
Special Instructions
Perform the test from Monday to Friday, and results are reported within 1 to 3 days after the test is performed. Ensure the specimen is transported refrigerated and do not freeze. This test is New York state approved.
Limitations
Not suitable for patients whose specimens are frozen, as frozen conditions are unacceptable and may compromise the integrity of the test results. Also, ambient specimen stability is not acceptable.
