Mast Cell Tryptase by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: MASTCT IHC
Use
This test provides immunohistochemical detection of mast cell tryptase in tissue or cellblock specimens, enabling identification of mast cell presence and distribution for diagnostic purposes.
Special Instructions
This test is performed as a stain-and-return (technical) service only. Orders should be submitted electronically, or via ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (#32978) if electronic ordering is unavailable. Refer to the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure for additional details.
Limitations
Specimens must be formalin-fixed (10% neutral buffered formalin) and paraffin-embedded. Cells must be prepared into a cellblock if applicable. Specimens must include a tissue block or at least 5 unstained (3–5 micron) positively charged slides (minimum 2 slides) and should not be oven‑baked if pre‑cut. Transport must avoid excessive heat. Specimens with non‑representative tissue types or depleted specimens are unacceptable.
