Phencyclidine, Urine Screen with Reflex to Quantitation
Also known as: PCP RFX U
Use
This test is useful for general screening in contexts of compliance and/or abuse. It is a screen with reflex testing, which is the preferred method for ruling out PCP exposure. The test screens for Phencyclidine (PCP) exposure in urine samples, providing a quick indication of whether the substance is present. If the initial screen indicates a possible presence of PCP, the test proceeds to a more specific quantitation via LC-MS/MS for confirmation.
Special Instructions
If the specimen screens positive, a Confirmation/Quantitation by LC-MS/MS (ARUP test code 2010462) will be added to confirm the result. Additional charges apply for the confirmatory test. This test has been New York state approved.
Limitations
The test is for medical purposes only and not valid for forensic use. Presumptive negative results for drug(s) and/or drug metabolite(s) may indicate non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection relative to drug administration, poor drug absorption, diluted/adulterated urine, or limitations of testing. The concentration at which the screening test can detect a drug or metabolite varies within a drug class.
