Protein, Total, Body Fluid
Also known as: TP-FL
Use
This test is used to measure the total protein concentration in various body fluids including pericardial, peritoneal/ascites, pleural, and synovial fluids. The results can provide valuable information for the assessment and monitoring of patients with conditions affecting these fluids, potentially indicating the presence of disease or infection.
Special Instructions
Refer to aruplab.com/bodyfluids for clinical indications and interpretive information. It is crucial to specify the specimen source as it must be pericardial, peritoneal/ascites, pleural, or synovial fluid.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is developed and performed by ARUP Laboratories in a CLIA certified laboratory for clinical purposes. Specimens other than those listed are considered unacceptable, and specimens that are too viscous to be aspirated by an instrument will also be rejected.
