Use
This test is a histochemical special stain (Luxol Fast Blue) used in anatomic pathology to visualize myelinated fibers by staining them blue, useful in evaluating neurological tissues and structures. It is a stain-and-return (technical) service only, without interpretive reporting. The test supports visualization of key histologic elements for diagnostic evaluation.

Limitations
Limitations include that only tissue or cells prepared as paraffin-embedded blocks or positively charged slides are acceptable; frozen specimens are unacceptable. Depleted specimens or those with nonrepresentative tissue types will be rejected. The test is technical only and does not include interpretive data or clinical report.

Collection Instructions
Formalin fix (10 percent neutral buffered formalin preferred) and paraffin embed specimen; cells must be prepared into a cellblock. Transport tissue block or 2 unstained (3- to 5‑micron thick) positively charged slides.
Storage Instructions
Store/transport at room temperature or refrigerated; ship in cooled container during summer months.
