Use
This test provides qualitative immunohistochemical detection of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) in tissue specimens or prepared cell blocks. It is performed as a technical 'stain and return' service to assist histopathologic evaluation by the ordering pathologist.
Special Instructions
This is a stain‑and‑return (technical) service only, performed Monday through Friday. Ordering recommendations and stain offerings are referenced in the ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Offerings brochure.
Limitations
Only technical performance is provided; pathologist interpretation is not included; sending inappropriate specimen types (e.g., non‑paraffin‑embedded, fluid specimens, or tissues not mounted on positively charged slides) will result in rejection.

Collection Instructions
Transport tissue block or 5 unstained (3‑ to 5‑micron thick) positively charged slides. If sending precut slides, do not oven bake.
Causes for Rejection
Tissue or cells not processed and placed in a paraffin block; serum, blood, or other body fluids; tissue not mounted on positively charged slides.
