Ubiquitin by Immunohistochemistry
Also known as: UBIQUI IHC
Use
Ubiquitin by Immunohistochemistry is used in the evaluation of tissue or cells for the presence of ubiquitin protein expression. It is a valuable diagnostic tool for identifying ubiquitin localization in various pathological conditions, including neurodegenerative disorders and certain types of cancers, where ubiquitin accumulation can provide insights into disease mechanisms. This test is performed in a clinical setting by a CLIA certified laboratory, although it is not FDA cleared or approved.
Special Instructions
IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY ORDERING AND SUBMISSION DETAILS: Submit electronic request. If you do not have electronic ordering capability, use an ARUP Immunohistochemistry Stain Form (form #32978) with an ARUP client number. For additional technical details, please contact ARUP Client Services. Protect paraffin block and/or slides from excessive heat. Room temperature or refrigerated shipping is recommended. During summer months, ship in cooled container to maintain specimen integrity.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. It is conducted as a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) by ARUP Laboratories. Ubiquitin by IHC is a qualitative test limited in its ability to provide detailed quantitative data regarding ubiquitin levels within the tissue. Additionally, depleted or non-representative tissue specimens can lead to invalid results. The test is performed as a stain and return service only which may restrict interpretation to aligning images with clinical findings.
