Warfarin Sensitivity (CYP2C9, CYP2C cluster, CYP4F2, VKORC1) Genotyping
Also known as: WARF PAN
Use
Warfarin Sensitivity Genotyping is used to identify individuals with inherited gene variants that affect dose requirements for warfarin. This test predicts sensitivity to warfarin and non-standard dose requirements by analyzing genetic variants associated with warfarin metabolism and sensitivity. Variants in the genes CYP2C9, CYP2C cluster, CYP4F2, and VKORC1 are evaluated to predict dosing requirements. These genetic variations can lead to alterations in warfarin sensitivity, resulting in risk of overdose or underdose, which may cause excessive bleeding or inadequate anticoagulation.
Special Instructions
Informed consent is required for genetic testing, especially for patients from New York. Counseling and informed consent are recommended prior to testing. Consent forms are available online and should accompany the test submission.
Limitations
The test detects only the specific targeted variants in CYP2C9, CYP2C cluster, CYP4F2, and VKORC1. It does not replace the need for clinical monitoring or therapeutic drug tests. Diagnostic errors may occur due to rare genetic variants not covered by this test. The test's results are not intended to recommend any specific medications or dosage changes. Interpretation should be done in consultation with a healthcare provider, and the test does not predict all genetic and non-genetic factors influencing warfarin dosing.
