Anemia Profile A
Use
The Anemia Profile A test is designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of anemia through the evaluation of various blood parameters. It includes complete blood count with differential, platelet count, iron studies, and reticulocyte count. This profile helps in identifying different types of anemia and provides insights into the underlying causes, such as iron deficiency or other hematological disorders. It assists healthcare providers in diagnosing anemia and monitoring response to treatment.
Special Instructions
Ensure serum is separated from cells within 45 minutes of collection to prevent cellular metabolism from affecting analyte levels. Maintain specimens at room temperature until analysis to ensure accurate results. The use of both serum and whole blood facilitates a broader scope of analysis.
Limitations
The Anemia Profile A test does not identify specific causes of anemia or other underlying conditions that may contribute to anemia beyond iron deficiency and blood cell counts. Hemolysis of samples may interfere with accurate test results, leading to potential rejection of the specimen. Improperly labeled specimens are also subject to rejection. Turnaround time may be longer if additional confirmatory testing is required.
