Anti-DNase B (Streptococcal) Antibodies
Also known as: ADB, Anti-DNase B Antibodies, DNase-B, DNase-B Antibodies, Streptococcal Antibodies
Use
Provides evidence of an existing or past streptococcal infection
Special Instructions
The antibody reaction against streptococcal DNase B starts later than the antibody production against streptolysin O, but it can then be detected on a greater percentage of patients. This test's relevance is particularly noted in cases where skin infections are suspected, with a rise in ADNase B titer being observable.
Limitations
An increase in the antistreptolysin concentration rarely occurs with skin infections, whereas a rise in the ADNase B titer can be observed. Results must be interpreted in the context of other clinical and laboratory findings. Gross lipemia that cannot be clarified by ultracentrifugation and severely hemolyzed or heat-inactivated samples are causes for rejection.
