Anti-ENA Abs (RDL)
Also known as: Anti-Extractable Nuclear Antigen Antibodies
Use
Aids in the diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), and related connective tissue diseases such as Sjogren's Syndrome. Anti-Sm is highly specific for SLE. Anti U1-RNP is found with a varitey of rheumatoid diseases with high titers associated mainly with MCTD.
Special Instructions
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by LabCorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
Limitations
The test results should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical and laboratory findings. The specificities for Anti-Sm and Anti-U1 RNP antibodies have clinical significance but their presence alone is not diagnostic of a specific disease. Further clinical correlation is essential.
