Antidepressant Drug Profile, Quantitative
Use
Detect presence of antidepressant drugs
Special Instructions
Serum or plasma samples must be separated from cells within two hours of collection. Use a red-top or green-top (heparin) tube for collection, and ensure that the serum or plasma is submitted in a plastic transport tube. Gel-barrier tubes and whole blood are not accepted for this test.
Limitations
This test is designed to detect and measure only the listed antidepressant drugs: amitriptyline, clomipramine, cyclobenzaprine, desipramine, desmethylclomipramine, desmethyldoxepin, desmethylsertraline, doxepin, fluoxetine, imipramine, maprotiline, norfluoxetine, nortriptyline, paroxetine, protriptyline, sertraline, and trimipramine. It does not detect other drugs or substances and should not be used as a comprehensive drug screening tool. The test results are influenced by factors like timing of the last dose, patient metabolism, and compliance, and should be interpreted in the context of a full clinical assessment. It is not approved by the FDA and was developed by LabCorp with its performance characteristics determined by the laboratory.
