Candida Antibodies, IgM, ELISA
Use
Detection of IgM antibodies to Candida albicans
Special Instructions
This assay is not available for use within New York state due to regulatory restrictions. Ensure that proper specimen collection and handling protocols are followed, and allow for additional testing time if confirmatory tests are necessary.
Limitations
Results for this test are intended for research purposes by the assay's manufacturer, not for clinical diagnostic purposes. The test's performance characteristics have not been fully established, and it should not be used to diagnose Candida infections without further confirmation using other diagnostic procedures. The assay cannot distinguish between antibodies formed during mucosal colonization and those formed during deep infection, leading to false positives in hospitalized patients without apparent Candida infection. Negative results do not rule out deep-seated candidiasis in immunocompromised patients.
