Clorazepate, Serum or Plasma
Also known as: Tranxene® SD™, Tranxene® T-Tab®
Use
Evaluate toxicity; monitor therapeutic levels
Special Instructions
The specimen should be collected prior to the patient's next dose unless otherwise noted. It is important to transfer the separated serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube. Avoid using gel-barrier tubes due to the potential for slow drug absorption by the gel, which could lead to clinically significant decreases in drug levels.
Limitations
While the test's performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp, it has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. Results should be interpreted in context, as variations in specimen volume and storage time can affect drug levels due to absorption by gel in tubes that aren't recommended. Monitoring therapeutic ranges requires careful attention to collection and handling instructions to ensure valid results.
