Histamine Determination, Whole Blood
Also known as: Whole Blood Histamine
Use
This test is used for the measurement of histamine in whole blood.
Special Instructions
This is not the Leukocyte Histamine Release Test (LHRT). To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, please submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Labcorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Histamine measurement may be less specific and less validated in mast cell activation contexts compared to other parameters such as tryptase. The histamine test is endogenous in many foods, and levels can vary due to processing, microbial activity, and other factors.
