Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1) DNA Sequencing Integrase
Also known as: Cell-associated Viral DNA, HIV-1 Genotype, Resistance Analysis
Use
Detect resistance of HIV-1 to integrase inhibitors in cell-associated viral DNA.
Special Instructions
The specimen must be collected in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube and should not be centrifuged. It is important to ship the specimen frozen to ensure optimal results. When requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit separate frozen specimens for each test to avoid delays.
Limitations
This test should be used specifically for patients with confirmed HIV-1 infections and is suited for those who have either undetectable viral loads or low-level viremia. It is not designed for the initial diagnosis of HIV-1 infection. Additionally, incorrect handling of the specimen, such as lack of freezing, can lead to specimen rejection.
