Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) GenoSure Archive
Also known as: HIV GSARCH
Use
The HIV-1 GenoSure Archive test is designed for patients with an undetectable viral load. It provides genotypic information about resistance to antiretroviral drugs, specifically targeting protease inhibitors, reverse transcriptase inhibitors, and integrase inhibitors. The test analyzes cell-associated viral DNA, offering insights into drug susceptibility based on detected mutations. This information assists healthcare providers in tailoring antiretroviral therapy for individuals with HIV-1, enhancing clinical decision-making for managing resistance and optimizing treatment regimens.
Special Instructions
The test should be used for patients with documented HIV-1 infection and undetectable viral load or low-level viremia. It is important to freeze the specimen immediately and transport it in its original collection tube. The test is not performed at ARUP Laboratories, and separate specimens must be submitted if multiple tests are ordered. The specimen must be kept frozen throughout transportation to ensure accurate results.
Limitations
The test is performed by Monogram Biosciences and not by ARUP, which means turnaround and reporting might vary. It is crucial that specimens are not thawed as it will lead to rejection. The test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, so results should not be the sole criteria for patient management. The determined HIV-1 subtype and the analysis are based on specific coding regions, and any external factors affecting DNA can impact results.
