Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1) GenoSure Archive® Plus Trofile® DNA
Also known as: Cell-associated Viral DNA, HIV-1 Genotype, Resistance Analysis
Use
Detect resistance of HIV-1 to protease, reverse transcriptase, and integrase inhibitors (GenoSure Archive®) and detect HIV-1 coreceptor tropism (Trofile® DNA) in cell-associated viral DNA; determine eligibility for CCR5 antagonist therapy, such as maraviroc (Selzentry®).
Special Instructions
Collect specimen in two lavender-top (EDTA) tubes. Do not centrifuge. Ship frozen. To avoid delays, submit separate frozen specimens for multiple tests requested on frozen samples. Turnaround time for the test is typically 24 to 28 days from the date of specimen pickup to result release.
Limitations
This test should only be used for patients with documented HIV-1 infection who have an undetectable viral load or low-level viremia. It is important to note that the test has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration and thus may have limitations in terms of its validation for clinical use. Additional confirmatory or reflex tests might be required, which could affect the turnaround time.
