Immunohistochemical (Diagnostic) Staining Program
Also known as: Carcinoma Stains, Germ Cell Profile, Immunoperoxidase Stains, Lymphoma Markers, Mesothelioma Profile
Use
An extensive list of diagnostic immunohistochemical stains and profiles is available for the diagnosis of poorly differentiated tumors, identity of primary and metastatic tumors, and classification of lymphomas. Refer to the Diagnostic Immunohistochemical Staining Program in the Oncology Appendix online, or contact oncology customer service at 800-345-4363 for an updated list of immunostains.
Special Instructions
Clearly indicate which program option is being ordered when submitting samples. For program options II and IV, an H&E slide must be submitted along with vital clinical information: differential diagnosis, site of specimen, and relevant patient clinical information. Any questions or clarifications regarding the test protocols or submissions can be directed to oncology customer service at 800-345-4363.
Limitations
Specimen handling is critical, as the use of fixatives other than 10% formalin could impact the quality and reliability of results. Optimal fixation time is between 12 to 24 hours and should not exceed 48 hours to ensure high-quality results. Deviations in specimen preparation can affect stain quality and diagnostic accuracy, making adherence to guidelines essential for accurate interpretations.
