Lymphocyte Activity Profile
Use
The Lymphocyte Activity Profile is a test designed to measure the activity and distribution of various subsets of lymphocytes using flow cytometry. It provides diagnostic and prognostic insights into immune function by analyzing markers on lymphocytes, making it particularly relevant in the context of immune disorders, infections, and monitoring the immune response.
Special Instructions
It is important to ensure that tubes are filled to capacity and inverted 8 to 10 times immediately after collection. Specimens should be shipped to arrive at the laboratory within 48 hours of collection to preserve cellular viability. Be sure to indicate the date and time of venipuncture on the tube(s) and the test request form.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, which may have implications for its use in certain clinical scenarios. The stability of specimens is limited to room temperature, and they are not stable if refrigerated or frozen. Hemolysis, contamination, or clotting can be causes for rejection of the specimen. Additionally, testing schedules may vary, and additional time should be allowed for confirmatory or reflex testing.
