Methylene Chloride, Whole Blood
Also known as: Dichloromethane (DCM)
Use
Evaluate exposure to methylene chloride
Special Instructions
Tubes should be filled to prevent loss of volatile compound into headspace. Collect at end of shift or end of exposure to ensure accurate representation of potential occupational or environmental exposure levels.
Limitations
The test is specific to methylene chloride exposure and does not provide information on other volatile organic compounds or solvents. Cross-reactivity with similar compounds is not assessed, and the presence of other chemicals may interfere with detection. The interpretation of results should consider factors such as time since exposure and potential environmental contamination of the specimen.
