PrEP Use Only: HCV Antibody With Reflex to Quantitative Real-time PCR
Also known as: HCV antibody with reflex, HIV PrEP, pre-exposure prophylaxis screening for HCV
Use
This test is used for HCV screening and diagnosis in patients administered HIV PrEP and diagnosis of active hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.
Special Instructions
PrEP use only. Contains CPT code modifier for CARES Act. If reflex test is performed, additional charges/CPT code(s) may apply. Patients should be cautioned to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample due to potential interference.
Limitations
Tests included within this profile may exhibit interference when the sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin (also termed as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H, or coenzyme R). Biotin consumption can affect the accuracy of the results, hence patients are advised to stop biotin supplements 72 hours prior to specimen collection. Reflex testing requires additional time and may incur additional charges.
