Sesame Seed
Use
The Sesame Seed IgE test is designed to help diagnose allergic reactions to sesame seeds. The test measures the level of specific Immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies in the blood which are responsible for allergic symptoms in sensitized individuals. Allergen-specific IgE tests are valuable for determining the causes of allergic symptoms and planning appropriate treatment.
Special Instructions
Specimen should be collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube. Ensure that the specimen is handled properly to maintain its stability for accurate test results.
Limitations
Testing may not detect all possible allergy triggers due to the limited number of allergens tested. False negatives can occur if the allergen is not included in the test, or if the patient's IgE level is below detectable limits. Cross-reactivity with other allergens can lead to false positives.
