Tetanus/Diphtheria Antibody Profile
Use
The Tetanus/Diphtheria Antibody Profile is used to determine the level of protection against tetanus and diphtheria by measuring the concentration of antitoxoid antibodies. This test is used to assess the immunological status of a patient and guide potential booster vaccinations. These antibodies provide an indication of recent or past vaccinations and subsequent immunity.
Special Instructions
Turnaround time ranges from 1 to 6 days from the date of specimen pickup. Additional time might be required for reflex or confirmatory testing. The test uses a red-top or gel-barrier tube for collection, and the serum should be stored at room temperature for up to 14 days.
Limitations
This procedure might be considered investigational by Medicare and other carriers, possibly affecting coverage. The test is intended for research purposes only, and the performance characteristics have not been fully established. These results should not be used as a standalone diagnostic tool without confirmation through other medically recognized diagnostic methods.
