Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) Antibodies, IgG
Also known as: Chickenpox Titers, Herpes Zoster Antibodies, VZV IgG
Use
Diagnose VZV infection; determine adult susceptibility to infection
Special Instructions
If a tube other than a gel-barrier tube is used, it is important to transfer the separated serum to a plastic transport tube. Ensure not to freeze the gel-barrier tube without decanting the serum, as this can affect result accuracy.
Limitations
This test is limited to qualitative detection of IgG antibodies and does not provide quantitative measures of antibody levels. The test may not detect antibodies in certain cases of recent infection or insufficient immunity development. Hemolysis, lipemia, and gross bacterial contamination are causes for specimen rejection.
