Zolpidem, Serum or Plasma
Also known as: Ambien®, Edluar®, Intermezzo®
Use
Therapeutic drug management
Special Instructions
Serum or plasma should be separated from cells within two hours of venipuncture. Submit the serum or plasma in a plastic transport tube. Gel-barrier tubes are not recommended for the collection of samples as they can cause interference with the test results. It is important to ensure proper handling and preparation of the specimens for accurate test results.
Limitations
The test may not be able to detect zolpidem concentrations if not taken as recommended. Specimens collected in gel-barrier tubes are prone to rejection due to potential interference. The test results should be interpreted within the context of the clinical scenario and other diagnostic results. Additional confirmatory tests may be needed if unexpected results are obtained.
