Celiac Serology
Use
The Celiac Serology test offers an antibody profile to aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease. This involves assessing specific antibodies to determine if the immune system is responding to gluten, a key symptom indicator in celiac disease.
Special Instructions
As with all Prometheus tests, Celiac Serology is developed under CLIA guidelines and CAP accreditation but not FDA approved. Separate testing involves specific antibodies like tTG IgA, EMA IgA, and total serum IgA, available as part of the detailed component testing available.
Limitations
This antibody testing does not replace a biopsy and only provides a serological assessment that can indicate celiac disease presence via antibody levels. Full clinical diagnosis should include additional considerations like symptoms, genetic testing, and potentially a biopsy.
