Calcium, 24‑Hour Urine without Creatinine
Use
This test measures the amount of calcium excreted in a 24‑hour urine collection, helping to assess disorders related to calcium metabolism such as hypercalciuria and contributing factors for kidney stones, bone disease, or endocrine disorders. Results should be interpreted alongside clinical history and physical examination findings. Urinary calcium levels may be affected by various conditions, including hypoparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, rickets, osteomalacia, familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia, and by medications such as calcium supplements and diuretics. The test may assist in evaluating renal and endocrine system disorders including parathyroid disorders, kidney disease, osteoporosis, sarcoidosis, malnutrition, celiac disease, and multiple myeloma.
