Childhood Allergy (Food and Environmental) Profile
Also known as: ImmunoCAP®
Use
This panel measures immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies to multiple common food and environmental allergens, helping clinicians assess allergen sensitization in pediatric patients. The included allergens encompass a range of foods (e.g., milk, egg white, peanut, soybean, wheat, codfish, shrimp, walnut) and environmental triggers (e.g., cat dander, dog dander, dust mites, molds, cockroach), as well as total IgE. It supports evaluation for potential allergic sensitization to inform clinical assessment.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This test assesses sensitization via IgE antibodies but does not confirm clinical allergy or predict severity of reactions. Positive results indicate the presence of specific IgE but must be interpreted alongside clinical history, physical exam, and potentially confirmatory tests such as skin testing or oral food challenges.
