Chlamydia/Neisseria gonorrhoeae RNA, TMA, Throat
Also known as: CT/GC TMA, CT/NG TMA, CT/NG Aptima, CT/GC Aptima
Use
This test is used for detection of RNA of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae in throat (pharyngeal) specimens utilizing transcription-mediated amplification (TMA), which aids in diagnosing extragenital sexually transmitted infections when exposure or symptoms involve the oropharyngeal site.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
Detection is limited to pharyngeal specimens; negative results do not exclude infection at other anatomic sites. Positive results are presumptive and may require confirmatory testing in low‑prevalence settings or when false positives may have adverse consequences. Repeat testing of the same sample using the same NAAT is generally not recommended. Confirmatory testing with an alternate nucleic acid target may be considered.
