Chlordiazepoxide and Metabolites
Use
Quantitative measurement of the benzodiazepine drug chlordiazepoxide and its metabolites (norchlordiazepoxide and nordiazepam) to monitor therapeutic levels, detect compliance, or assess potential toxicity in patients receiving chlordiazepoxide therapy.
Special Instructions
Collect serum at trough concentration (just before next dose). Specimen must be drawn in a no-additive red-top tube; serum separator (SST) tubes are not acceptable. Refrigerate within 1 hour; ship on cold pack by overnight courier.
Limitations
Room‐temperature specimens are unacceptable; specimens collected in SST tubes are rejected. Hemolytic, lipemic, or otherwise compromised specimens may affect accuracy. Analytical performance is validated under CLIA but the assay is not FDA cleared/approved.
