Drug Toxicology Phencyclidine, with Confirmation, Oral Fluid
Use
Used for detecting use or misuse of phencyclidine (PCP) via oral fluid; helps identify recent drug exposure given oral fluid’s rapid detection window relative to urine.
Special Instructions
Collection must use the Quantisal™ oral fluid collection device. Avoid food, drink, gum, or tobacco for 10 minutes before collection; if mouth not clear, rinse with up to 4 oz water and wait ≥10 minutes before collecting. Device uses 1 mL oral fluid in a 3 mL buffer tube; use of Oral‑Eze® is no longer acceptable.
Limitations
Oral fluid detection window is relatively short (commonly 24–50 h; sometimes just a few hours for some drugs) and concentrations may be lower than in urine. Quantitative results do not indicate dose or time‑of‑dose. Specimens outside the Quantisal device, with food debris, multiple/no swabs, or inverted wand are rejected.
