Hepatitis C Antibody with Reflex to HCV RNA, PCR with Reflex to Genotype, LiPA
Also known as: HCV RNA Genotype, LIPA, Hepatitis C RNA Genotype, HCV with Reflex, HCV Antibody
Use
This test is intended as a multi-step diagnostic and treatment‑planning assay for Hepatitis C infection: first assessing exposure via HCV antibody, then confirming active infection with quantitative HCV RNA PCR if antibody positive, and finally performing genotype determination (LiPA) to guide antiviral therapy when viral load is ≥2,000 IU/mL. It provides screening, confirmation, baseline viral quantification, and genotype information in a single specimen workflow.

Limitations
Reflex to genotype is only performed when quantitative HCV RNA is ≥ 2,000 IU/mL; if RNA is detectable but below that threshold, genotype testing may not yield a reportable result ([questdiagnostics.com](https://www.questdiagnostics.com/healthcare-professionals/clinical-education-center/faq/hcvgenotyping?utm_source=openai)).
