HIV-1 RNA, Quantitative PCR with Reflex to Genotype
Also known as: HIV-1 RNA, HIV Quant, HIV Genotyping
Use
Quantifies HIV-1 RNA (viral load) in plasma of individuals with known HIV‑1 infection. If the viral load meets or exceeds a specified threshold (commonly ≥400 copies/mL in Quest’s algorithm), the test reflexes to genotypic HIV‑1 resistance testing to identify drug resistance mutations. Useful for monitoring disease progression, assessing response to antiretroviral therapy, and guiding regimen changes in cases of therapeutic failure.
