This test measures the total amount of sodium excreted over a 24‑hour urine collection and includes creatinine to allow assessment of completeness of collection, aiding evaluation of sodium balance, kidney function, and volume status.
Special Instructions
Record total volume on the container and requisition; refrigerator storage during collection is required according to general Quest 24‑hour urine collection instructions.
Limitations
Not available for New York patient testing; accuracy dependent on complete collection over 24 hours; preservative and collection container handling may affect results.
