Specialized Transplant Services – Donor Infectious Disease Screening
Use
Provides expedited infectious disease screening of donors (blood and HCT/P donors) to identify relevant communicable disease agents or diseases (RCDADs) prior to transplant procedures, meeting FDA requirements and supporting safe donor-recipient matching. The testing enables critical pre-transplant evaluation within an accelerated timeline to facilitate living donation workflows.
Special Instructions
Specimens for donor RCDAD testing are processed at a dedicated FDA-registered laboratory in Chantilly, Virginia. Quest provides expedited specimen transport via specialized shipping kits, tracking, and dedicated transplant support. Ordering can include automatic ship‑to‑patient collection kits (test code 10696) at no additional cost. Specimens shipped via FedEx qualify for a 24‑hour turnaround upon receipt.
Limitations
Only FDA-approved or FDA-cleared assays specifically intended for donor testing (RCDADs) are used, as per FDA guidance — laboratory‑developed tests or modifications thereof are prohibited. Panel components can be ordered separately.
