Test for adrenal function/Addison’s disease using three timed cortisol measurements (baseline, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes post–ACTH administration).
Special Instructions
Draw baseline specimen before ACTH administration; administer 250 mcg Cortrosyn (cosyntropin) by rapid IV push; draw specimens at 30 and 60 minutes post‑administration; clearly mark collection times on all tubes. Cortrosyn not supplied by the laboratory.
