Allergen, Epidermals and Animal Proteins, Mouse Epithelium

Use
This test is used to detect allergen-specific IgE antibodies to Mouse Epithelium, useful for diagnosing allergic reactions to mouse epidermals and animal proteins. The test provides a quantitative measure of IgE levels which can help in determining potential allergic responses, although these levels do not always correlate with the degree of clinical symptoms experienced. It is important to correlate laboratory results with the patient's clinical history and other allergy testing methods.
Special Instructions
Multiple patient encounters should be avoided. Separate serum from cells as soon as possible or within 2 hours of collection. Use an ARUP Standard Transport Tube for submitting samples.
Limitations
Allergen results within the 0.10-0.34 kU/L range should be considered in conjunction with clinical assessments as their clinical relevance is undetermined. Concentrations of allergen-specific IgE may not reflect the severity of allergic reactions or correlate directly with skin test results. Negative results do not entirely rule out allergic reactions or anaphylaxis.
