Use
Confirm the presence of precipitating antibodies to Aspergillus
Special Instructions
Refrigerate the specimen after collection. Ensure that the specimen does not undergo hemolysis, lipemia, or gross bacterial contamination, as these may lead to rejection. The red-top tube or gel-barrier tube should be used for specimen collection.
Limitations
While the test detects Aspergillus antibodies, it may not provide information on the current state or severity of infection. False positives might occur in individuals who have been exposed to Aspergillus without developing an infection. The presence of antibodies does not always correlate with active disease, and further clinical evaluation may be necessary. Additionally, there are potential delays in obtaining results if confirmatory or reflex tests are needed.
